twenty-four.

Well, here we are at the end of a decade. I went from nine to nineteen. Fourth grade and pokemon and neopets; junior high and Linkin Park, xanga, Avril Lavigne, Hot Topic, Britney Spears and lipgloss; high school and sconex, black rubber bracelets, iPods, myspace, emo bands and Vans; to college and indie pop, facebook, crazy colored skinny jeans and where I am today. I don't know how else to sum up the decade, other than to say I grew up.
2009 has been a good year. Horrible at some moments, wonderful most of the time. I hate people who blog about the album of the year that changed their life, and such. So I'm just going to list some of the stuff I liked this year instead, and maybe you'll check it out and like it too.

Movies I loved in 2009: Crash, The Time Traveler's Wife, Seven Pounds
I didn't care for many movies this year. In fact, only one of those movies even came out this year. There were far too many movies I saw this year that I disliked- Revolutionary Road, Rachel Getting Married. Other movies left me feeling unsatisfied and I wanted more- Lars and the Real Girl, 500 Days of Summer.

Books I loved in 2009: Ragamuffin Gospel, Ophelia Speaks, Reviving Ophelia, The Bell Jar, Mere Christianity, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Last Chinese Chef, Red Letter Christians, Girl Interrupted
It was a lot of books on Christianity and Psychology. Lots of books about unhappy girls that have inspired me in my major and eventual career choices.

Music I loved in 2009: The Weepies, Ra Ra Riot, Iron & Wine, Dr Dog, MGMT, Vampire Weekend, Lisa Hannigan, City and Colour, The Bird and the Bee, Mates of State, Stars, Copeland, The New Pornographers, Owl City, Elizabeth & the Catapult, Florence + the Machine, James Yuill, Bon Iver, Paper Route, Electric President, Sad Brad Smith.
Right now, I really like Paper Route, James Yuill, Lisa Hannigan and Electric President. Oh and Lady GaGa, hehe.

Anyway, I have high hopes for 2010. I've got some resolutions, but I'll keep them to myself for now. I can't wait to see what's in store for me in my twentieth year.
